| BECKY
PINCKNEY, VICE PRESIDENT As an avid
gardener I have learned more about growing herbs by becoming a
member of the Chattahoochee Unit of the Herb Society of America.
I am a retired teacher and for several years I have sold cut
flowers, homegrown fresh and dried herbs, wreaths and "herb
critters" at a local farmers' market in an Atlanta suburb.
By joining the Chattahoochee Unit of the Herb Society of America
I was exposed to a deeper knowledge and further detailed
information about the use of herbs. The ladies in this group are
"walking encyclopedias" of herbal lore and and I have
greatly enjoyed the information I glean from their monthly
meetings.

| VIVIAN
BACHORIKIO, TREASURER
I am originally from New York
City and have lived mainly in apartments, though I always had an
interest in gardening. It mainly involved house plants, however,
if I ever got near dirt for any extensive time, I would plant
something! So, summer vacation rentals I would attempt a small
garden or whenever I rented an apartment with some sort of yard
I would "play in the dirt".
I also always had an interest
in food and love anything about it from shopping to eating,
including cooking and dining out. That is where my love of herbs
began but became stronger once I bought a home in Decatur and
got involved in the Herb Society, thanks to my neighbor, Joyce
Cotter. Since then I have purchased many books on herbs and have
turned over a good portion of my lawn into a 11 x 18 ft herb
garden. I use my herbs for cooking and love to experiment with
recipes. I also love mixing herbs with some floral arrangements
in the house and usually have fresh herb clippings in the
kitchen for show and for cooking.
The garden has been physically
as well as mentally rewarding and is so much easier and more
satisfying to attend, then mowing the lawn!

| TRACY
MINJAUW, SECRETARY
Tracy's earliest gardening
memories come from her grandfather's backyard garden spot. Her
favorite thing about herbs is how they awaken the sensory
sensations: touch, taste, smell, and sight each spring, summer,
fall and even winter, bringing such delight. Her husband Jacques
is as passionate about herbs as she is.
